Power Returns!
We are the green grid of hope in the Entergy outage map. Arabi was one of the earliest areas of the Greater New Orleans Metro region to have its power restored. I guess it pays to be between the National Guard barracks and a hospital.
Our parish president Guy McInnis live-streamed himself dancing in the street, saying “Popeyes is lit!” People in Lousiana have their priorities.
Still almost all of New Orleans and the parishes to the west of it remain without power. No clear estimate when it will be restored. Some will have to wait weeks according to the reports.
Lines for gas are extremely long. Some waited more than six hours only to be turned away as the station’s gas supply had run out. We drove several hours round trip to hattiesburg to fill tanks for us and our friends. And of course our power returns! But we do have gas for friends in New Orleans.
