Ida – The Next Day
The morning after, we woke up to survey the damage. The roof is compromised. Several sheets ended up in our yard. Several sections of our fence blew down—no surprise.
My mother’s house in the Faugburg Marigny came through almost completely unscathed. Built in the 1850s, she survived another storm. A single window pain was broken and a couple of branches broke off the historic oak out front.
There was widespread damage throughout the Marigny and Bywater. Around the corner on Royal Street a large oak came down on a historic property that was recently renovated and sold for $1M+.
No word when power will come back on. Generator is still supplying electric to the camper so we have AC, refrigerator, and TV to keep up with the local updates.
